AEW's newest signee, Hologram, made his debut on the most recent episode of Saturday Night Collision. The high-flying luchador wowed fans with his abilities in the ring, but it seems that some are still wondering about his true identity. Former WWE Superstar, Mason Madden recently joined the fun by teasing that it could be him under the mask.
Hologram's real identity is reportedly Aramis, a top luchador known for his aerial prowess on the independent scene. However, fans have continued to ask whether the likes of Ricochet, who is rumored to be signing with All Elite Wrestling soon, could be under the mask. The 35-year-old recently cleared the matter up, but that hasn't fully put an end to the speculation.
Mason Madden, formerly known as Mace in WWE, signed with Tony Khan's promotion early this month. He and his partner, Mansoor, seem to be headed to ROH but are still active on the independent circuit as well.
Madden took to X (fka Twitter) today to react to Ricochet and Ricky Starks both confirming that they were not Hologram. The 33-year-old teased a confession, indicating that he could be the mysterious masked man.
"Sigh. I guess it's time to come clean," wrote Madden.
Dave Meltzer reveals details on Hologram's creation in AEW
The character and presentation of Hologram is reportedly the brainchild of Tony Khan. His ninja-like ring gear evokes a comic-book aesthetic, and this is apparently by design.
Speaking on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Tony Khan had the idea for the character several years ago, but it didn't come together until now.
"Tony Khan has had an idea for Aramis for probably five years, maybe four. For whatever reason, it never materialized, and now it has. In the interim, since he had this idea, we have had so many luchadores come through. Aramis is very good and his moves were good and everything, but to me it was like, I felt like, how's he any different from Komander?" he wondered.
Meltzer further confirmed that the All Elite Wrestling Chief wanted to present a lucha superhero for a long time and hoped that the Mexican would be booked well.
"Look, Tony Khan's wanted his luchador superhero with that gimmick for a long, long time. The guy's good, it's just a question of pushing him and how far you can go with him," said Meltzer.
Hologram defeated his longtime rival, Gringo Loco, in his debut on AEW Collision. It's unclear what Tony Khan has in store for the Mexican star, but it seems that he has a vision for the character moving forward.
