Mercedes Mone was booed big time during her match at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door III. She has finally broken her silence on the fans' response.
Ever since making her debut in AEW, Mercedes Mone has quickly made an impact in the women's division by winning the TBS Championship. If that wasn't enough, she faced Stephanie Vaquer in the title vs. title match at Forbidden Door. After a hard-fought contest, Mone emerged as the new NJPW Strong Women's Champion. A notable moment from the match saw the New York fans in attendance boo Merecedes and cheer heavily for Stephanie.
Mercedes Mone opened up about the audience's reaction on the All Elite Krew Newsletter where she said that the fans' reception had her giggling but she didn't mind being painted as the villain. The former WWE star also mentioned that she loves how quickly wrestling fans can turn on someone in an instant.
“I won't lie when the chants started - it had me giggling, silly sillies! Don't you know it's ME who puts the Boss in Boston! I love New York, though, so I'll let y'all paint me in the villain era - that's one thing I love about wrestling: the fans are quick to turn on you, and yet somehow that energy always ends up hyping me up more, so please, carry on, I do enjoy it!”

Bully Ray explained why Britt Baker was uncomfortable during her AEW Dynamite segment with Mercedes Mone
This week on AEW Dynamite, Britt Baker addressed the fans for the first time since returning before she came face-to-face with the current TBS Champion. The two women had a verbal sparring session for a while before Mercedes left the ring. During the segment, Baker looked a bit uncomfortable for a while before the fans made her feel at home.
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Bully explained that Britt Baker felt uncomfortable during her segment because she was unsure if the fans would accept her again. He also noted how the fans accepted her because she is an AEW original.
"At first, I could tell that Britt was uncomfortable embracing the babyface promo. Because I don't know if she really thought it was going to work or if she still had the fear of acceptance and whether the people would buy into her or not. They did! They wanted to love Britt tonight and I think they're gonna wanna love Britt into the future. They're gonna wanna love Britt because she has been there from day one and she has been a pillar of AEW, as she reminded the audience tonight."
Britt Baker managed to get a solid reaction from the fans during her return even though she was confronted by Mercedes Mone.
