Cody Rhodes worked for AEW from 2019 to 2022. The American Nightmare recently shared some interesting comments about his former employer.

Rhodes was instrumental in the formation of AEW, where he played the role of an EVP and an in-ring performer. During his time in the company, he was involved in many notable storylines with veterans and upstarts. It can be argued that the former TNT Champion's All Elite Wrestling tenure helped establish his American Nightmare character.

On the Busted Open podcast, Rhodes mentioned that he would always have an eye on AEW despite being signed to WWE. He also looked back on the Jacksonville-based company's inception.

“I think I’ll always have an eye on it because it’s just not something you can abandon in your mind in a sense of, hey, me, Matt [Jackson], Nick [Jackson], Kenny [Omega], Tony [Khan], Brandi [Rhodes], Bernie [Cahill], Chris [Harrington], Dana [Massie] started this thing, especially if you were in those initial meetings. So I’ll always have an eye for it. I could never just pretend it’s not there anymore.” [H/T: F4wononline]

Cody Rhodes made many great memories in AEW

During his time in AEW, Cody Rhodes had great matches against prominent stars like Darby Allin, Ricky Starks, and MJF. He also made life-long friends in the process and created some unforgettable memories.

During the same interview with Busted Open, Rhodes said he wouldn't root against his former employer as he had a lot of great memories working for them.

“I had said this before, I wouldn’t root against my former company. And I keep eyes on them. And I have a lot of really great memories, really more than anything. Sometimes, things are just for a season in your life. That was a season in my life, and it was a really great season.” [H/T: F4wononline]
