Sting's legendary career is set to come to an end soon. The WWE Hall of Famer recently announced that he will officially hang up his boots at AEW's Revolution pay-per-view event in 2024. Another Hall of Famer has since offered to be The Icon's final opponent.
Many fans were saddened to hear of Sting's forthcoming retirement. The multi-time world champion has created countless memories in WCW, TNA, WWE, AEW, and other scenes in the wrestling world. He now has the chance to create one more memorable moment in his retirement match, but he will need a worthy opponent to do so.
This is where Rob Van Dam joins the conversation. The former WWE Champion has been very impressive in his recent AEW outings. RVD offered his services to be Sting's last-ever opponent on a recent edition of his 1 Of A Kind podcast:
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
"I'll put him out. [...] I'll put him out to the pastures. Why not?" [14:56 - 15:01]
Other names like Darby Allin and MJF have been tipped to be the Stinger's final dance partner, but as of yet, nothing has been confirmed.
RVD partners with a WWE legend's son this week on Dynamite
Rob Van Dam is slated to once again make an appearance for AEW when he teams up with HOOK on this week's episode of Dynamite.
The duo previously worked alongside each other to score a victory on an episode of Collision last month. RVD said the following about working with his long-time friend Taz's son:
“He’s got such a good energy, I could tell. I told Taz this after the match too. I said I can tell everybody picks up on [HOOK’s] energies. Like, everyone seems to genuinely like him, like, he’s a good kid." [03:30 onwards]
It's always a good time when Rob Van Dam comes around, and expect this week's Dynamite to be no different.
