A WWE Hall of Famer recently revealed that he'd like to retire from in-ring competition at the hands of reigning AEW International Champion Will Ospreay. The name in question is none other than Billy Gunn.
The former WWE Tag Team Champion's professional wrestling career has spanned over three decades. Gunn has built a great singles record despite gaining popularity as a tag team wrestler with his partner, Road Dogg. Billy Gunn has been signed to AEW since 2019 and still performs well in the squared circle.
During his recent appearance on the Insights with Chris Van Vliet podcast, Billy Gunn acknowledged Will Ospreay's comments from earlier this year, when The Aerial Assassin revealed his desire to retire the WWE Hall of Famer. The 60-year-old revealed that he's on board with the idea. The veteran further heaped praise on the current AEW International Champion.
“I don’t know what it is about that kid [Will Ospreay]. I love him; I tell everybody that’s my retirement match. When I retire, it’s me and Will, and he just said on some media scrum that he’s in AEW to retire me. Because his work really isn’t me. It’s so opposite of me. But I love him. He’s good. He’s very energetic. Just the stuff he does is amazing. He’s so athletic and could do so much stuff. But he has charisma with it, and he’s very good at that. And I love that; I don’t know, I just love that kid,” he said. [H/T:[ChrisVanVliet.com]

Billy Gunn reveals former WWE star Chuck Palumbo has no interest in appearing in AEW
WWE Hall of Famer Billy Gunn worked with Chuck Palumbo in a tag team on SmackDown from 2001 to 2002. During their run, the duo also managed to become two-time WWE Tag Team Champions.
Speaking on the Insights with Chris Van Vliet podcast, Billy Gunn revealed that Palumbo had previously passed an opportunity to come to AEW as he had other priorities.
"He [Chuck Palumbo] just has no desire right now. He has all his other stuff going on. I've asked him to do a couple of things. He just, it’s not that he won't do it for me; it's just not him anymore. The boys wanted him to come to my birthday celebration when we did the birthday thing. I called and asked him, and he's got so much other stuff going on that he's okay that he doesn't do any of the wrestling, and I get it," Billy revealed. [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Billy Gunn and Will Ospreay cross paths inside the squared circle in the coming months.
