Former WWE Superstar Matt Morgan recently took a dig at the rumors of Shane McMahon potentially joining the Tony Khan-led AEW. The Boy Wonder last appeared at WrestleMania 39, where he got injured during his match against The Miz.
During the Pandemic Era, Shane introduced 'WWE Underground,' where wrestlers would settle their differences in shoot-style matches. However, the concept didn't get over with the audience and was shelved within months.
Shane has been the talking point in the wrestling industry after a huge rumor of him joining forces with the Jacksonville-based promotion broke out. Recently, the co-host of the Grilling Jr. podcast, Conrad Thompson, claimed that a friend of his revealed that Shane McMahon had reached out to several AEW stars about potentially signing with Tony Khan's company.
During a recent episode of the Gigantic Pop podcast, former WWE Superstar Matt Morgan jokingly said that he couldn't wait for Shane O'Mac to bring Underground to All Elite Wrestling.
"Sure, definitely, Yes, I can't wait for AEW Underground. It's gonna be this new awesome contest!" Matt Morgan said. (34:32 - 34:39)
Jim Ross talks about Shane McMahon's potential AEW arrival
WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW commentator Jim Ross recently opened up about the possibility of The Prodigal Son joining forces with the Jacksonville-based company.
Speaking on his Grilling Jr. podcast, the veteran said that Shane McMahon joining AEW ''might work.''
"Yeah, it would. It’s so crazy that it might work, depending on how it was positioned and how it was introduced. Shane called me the other day; he’s called me two or three times, which I really appreciate. He’s always been sensitive in that respect. That’s only a question that Shane could answer. Shane and Tony Khan being together—how would that work creatively? Heck, who knows? Might be great. But in any event, that all depends on Shane and what he wants to do," Ross said.
It will be interesting to see if Shane McMahon becomes All Elite in the coming weeks.
