A popular AEW star has just spoken up about the opportunities they have gotten to share the ring with wrestlers from around the world since joining the company. This is a testament to Tony Khan's efforts to keep good relationships with other major promotions.
Ricochet is not someone new to this kind of competition. He has already gotten a chance to face competitors from NJPW, Lucha Underground, WWE, AEW, and on the independent circuit. Now that he is signed with AEW, he can continue to expand his pool of competitors as the promotion is affiliated with several other major promotions.
In an interview with Fightful's Iridian Fierro for WGN Radio 720, Ricochet mentioned how he was looking forward to facing the best the world has to offer. He also talked about how there was so much young talent that he had yet to share the ring with.
"Yeah. I mean, I'm always looking to wrestle the best of the best, wherever, whether that's Mexico, Japan, Europe, Canada, America, that's never changed. That's 21 years strong of always wanting to wrestle the best and the newest. When I first started, there's so many guys wrestling now that weren't even alive when I started wrestling."
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
He named Nick Wayne as an example, as he was someone even younger than his wrestling career. The former WWE United States Champion was looking forward to wrestling those climbing the ranks, from any promotion all over the world.
"For example, I just wrestled Nick Wayne not too long ago. He just turned 19 years old. I've been wrestling for 21 years, so you always want to wrestle the best, but you do want to wrestle the new people, and you want to wrestle the guy, the up-and-comers who are going to be leading the business into whatever direction they want to take it later in the future. So, absolutely. Whatever continent, whatever promotion, I absolutely always am looking to wrestle the best." [H/T - Fightful]
Ricochet is currently entered in the AEW Continental Classic
The Future of Flight was immediately given a chance to share the ring with some of the top stars in the world as he entered his first AEW Continental Classic. He'll have the chance to have first-time matchups and reunions in the ring with some of the biggest names in the company.
However, he did not have the best of starts as he immediately suffered a loss to Claudio Castagnoli. The Death Rider was dominant once he got it going, and he took the win in a convincing manner.
However, this is not the end for Ricochet as he'll have around five more matches in this round-robin tournament, and he has a great chance of pulling off a comeback. His next big task would be him looking to take down Brody King, who he'll be facing at AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming less than two weeks from now.
