A WWE veteran recently discussed Bryan Danielson's last match at the WrestleDream pay-per-view. The star being discussed is Jeff Jarrett. He worked as a backstage producer for the company in 2019. He is currently working as Director of Business Development at AEW.
The American Dragon retired as a full-time performer at the WrestleDream pay-per-view after Jon Moxley defeated him to become the new AEW World Champion. The match saw both the stars leaving everything in the ring but Moxley got the last laugh. Following the match, Mox and company took out Danielson. Even his friend and mentee, Wheeler Yuta, turned on him. Jeff Jarrett, Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, and others came out to save The American Dragon but to no avail as Moxley's faction decimated the star.

While speaking on his My World podcast, Double J said that fans were shocked as they didn't expect the 43-year-old star to lose in his hometown of Washington. He also stated that the audience was really emotional following the match.
“I’ve never felt, because you could feel a crowd, even if they’re not yelling, it was really, really emotional. For him to be heading in there as the champion, and to go out that way, the people in the arena, I don’t think they expected him to lose under any circumstance, being that [the show] was in his backyard, and just how that last scene felt. Wheeler Yuta apologized to Bryan Danielson
The former ROH Pure Champion was one of Bryan Danielson's most trusted people in the company and was also mentored by the veteran. However, Wheeler Yuta betrayed The American Dragon at WrestleDream. He choked out the latter with a plastic bag.
Following the barbaric attack, Yuta recently took to X/Twitter and apologized to The American Dragon as he felt sorry for his actions at WrestleDream.
"Sorry, bryan. enjoy retirement," he wrote.
It will be interesting to see when, if ever, Danielson will return to the Jacksonville-based promotion.
