Cody Rhodes defended his Undisputed WWE Championship at the inaugural Bash in Berlin Premium Live Event today, and he shared a touching moment with his opponent after the match. Fans applauded as he and Kevin Owens walked out of the arena with their arms around each other's shoulders.
It was a heartfelt gesture from Rhodes, who is good friends with Owens in real life. However, it's not the first time The American Nightmare has done something like this. Many fans will remember that he and his older brother, Dustin Rhodes, did the same thing following their iconic and bloody match at AEW Double or Nothing 2019.
Cody Rhodes remembered that moment tonight. Speaking at the post-show conference following Bash in Berlin, the former AEW EVP brought up his time in the Jacksonville-based promotion, as well as the time he and Seth Rollins walked out arm-in-arm following their tag team match at WrestleMania XL:
"It was a really touching moment to be able to share that with [Owens]," said Cody Rhodes. "I think I've only ever walked to the back with my arms like this with somebody...I think the only two people I did it with besides Kevin was Seth Rollins at WrestleMania and then my brother Dustin way back when I was at AEW. So that was special to have those three guys all share that type of moment with them."
Cody's match with Dustin is still remembered fondly and considered one of the greatest bouts in AEW history by many fans. Whether the two will ever share a moment like that again remains to be seen.
