Thunder Rosa is a former AEW Women's World Champion. She is one of the top females on the company's roster. However, Rosa recently disclosed that when she won the most prestigious prize in the women's division, she was seemingly unprepared for it.
La Mera Mera secured the Women's World Championship by defeating Britt Baker in a Steel Cage match on the March 16, 2022, edition of Dynamite, titled St. Patrick's Day Slam. It was Rosa's first title victory in the Tony Khan-led promotion. Unfortunately, she had to relinquish the championship in November 2022 due to a back injury.
The 38-year-old star had a chat with Tim Hann Rivera a few hours ago. During the interview, Rosa admitted she wasn't mentally prepared to handle the fame and responsibilities that came with being the AEW Women's World Champion.
“I don’t think mentally I was ready for it (…) The good was, like, you create history, you get a bigger platform, and you’re at another level now. People see you with different eyes, they see you as the s***."
Rosa commented on some of her friends seemingly being jealous of her success and addressed their betrayal.
"It’s heartbreaking when friends turn on you, or when people you thought you could trust prove you can’t. You have to stay strong through it all.” [H/T: SEScoops]
AEW star Thunder Rosa's list of dream matches
Thunder Rosa performed in ROH, Lucha Underground, Impact Wrestling, NWA, and other popular wrestling promotions before signing with All Elite Wrestling. She has already shared the ring with many top female wrestlers. Speaking to Tim Hann Rivera, La Mera Mera revealed a few names she would like to face in the future.
"Another person I would love to wrestle if I could is Charlotte Flair. She’s an excellent, excellent wrestler. Bianca Belair, I think in the last two years, her level of wrestling is tremendous. Last but not least, one of the best workers currently right now is Bayley. I respect Bayley as a person. She’s a wonderful individual who always is very giving to other people, so I would love to wrestle her. There’s a bunch of other people in AEW too that I haven’t wrestled yet," Rosa said.
Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, and Bayley are all top WWE stars and former world champions. It will be interesting to see whether Rosa will ever jump ship to the global juggernaut to face the aforementioned names.
