Jeff Hardy opened up about his run in AEW. He said he has so much guilt and shame about it.
Jeff Hardy is one of the best tag team wrestlers of all time. Apart from tag team wrestling, Jeff was able to make it as a singles wrestler both in WWE and TNA. Sadly, his entire career has been plagued by controversy which has often held him back from his true potential. Addiction has been Jeff's Achilles heel throughout his career.
He was suspended at the peak of his WWE career due to the same issue. Even after joining AEW, he was suspended due to similar reasons. After pretty accomplishing pretty much nothing in a disappointing run in AEW, Jeff joined TNA Wrestling.
During a recent interview on Busted Open Radio, Jeff Hardy mentioned that he wants to win the tag titles because he feels so much guilt and shame about how his AEW run went:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
“Definitely to win the TNA Tag Team titles. Basically because I have so much guilt and shame within me still, just from AEW giving me an opportunity — and even Matt — to me breaking trust with my personal issues in real life. And so, I just want to make that up to Matt. And I can say right here that I will not break TNA’s trust. That is in my past, and it feels good to have somewhat of a clean slate with all that stuff and kind of start fresh instead of having that guilt and shame about what I did in a certain world of pro wrestling.” [H/T Ringside News]
Jeff Hardy is feeling enlightened after his last run-in with the law
Jeff Hardy will always be remembered for his daredevil antics in the ring. He is no stranger to performing high spots such as diving off the titantron or steel cage. However, Jeff's career is marred by his struggles with addiction.
During the same podcast episode, Jeff mentioned feelings of a sense of enlightenment since his last run-in with the law:
“So many things have happened since my last run-in with the law that have been really beautiful. It’s like an enlightenment connection I have with everything around me, mainly nature. The force of nature is a huge drive with my internal love.”
It will be good to see if Jeff Hardy stays true to his word and remains sober for the rest of his career.
