Jeff Jarrett recently signed a new contract with AEW. However, he has already revealed what he plans to do after retirement.

Jarrett has been in the professional wrestling business for a long time. During his tenure, he has wrestled for some of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world, including WWE, TNA, and AEW. Now, Jeff is nearing the end of his career.

Last week on AEW Dynamite, Jeff announced that he had signed his last contract as an active professional wrestler. He said that he plans to win the AEW World Championship before his retirement. He also announced that he would be participating in the Casino Gauntlet match to earn a shot at the title.

During a recent interview on the Battlegrounds podcast, Jeff Jarrett said he plans to become a commentator when he hangs up his boots. He further added that he has enjoyed his time as a panelist on the Zero Hour show and he loves his new role.

“I’m gonna take it one day at a time. When I originally signed with AEW a couple of years ago, that wasn’t, as the kids say, on my bingo card. But they asked me to fill in once—I did an analyst spot for Zero Hour, then another spot on Zero Hour, and later a two-hour Dynamite and a one-hour Rampage. It just kind of happened by luck, and I realized, ‘Man, I kind of like this. I love this.'” [H/T Ringside News]

Jeff Jarrett knows how difficult it is to do commentary

Commentary is one of the hardest jobs in the wrestling industry. Commentators in major promotions like AEW and WWE have a producer in their ear telling them what to say and when to cut to commercial, all while they call the action live without missing a beat.

There are many stories of Vince McMahon yelling at Michael Cole through the headset while he tries to do his job. Hence, the stress involved in handling such a job is quite high.

On the same podcast, Jeff Jarrett acknowledged the challenges of being a commentator and even cited Jerry Lawler who made a successful transition from the ring to the commentary booth.

“I’ve told almost every announcer I’ve ever been around, going all the way back to the ’90s, that they have a very difficult job. I always admired Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, who I consider one of my first mentors. I grew up watching him as a wrestler, and when he transitioned into a color commentator and had that legendary run, he showed such a unique skill set.” [H/T Ringside News]
