Jim Cornette is one of the most recognizable figures in the world of professional wrestling. Furthermore, he rarely holds back on his opinions, no matter how controversial they are. This has resulted in him getting into conflicts with individuals who are active in the business. Interestingly, in the 540th episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, the 62-year-old didn't hold back in criticizing the AEW roster.

Cornette said that, unlike WWE, the majority of AEW talents didn't look like athletes or celebrities, particularly the 27-year-old Marko Stunt. The five-foot-two-inch tall star was signed with AEW from 2019 to 2022, where he was part of the defunct stable, Jurassic Express, alongside Killswitch (FKA Luchasaurus) and Jack Perry. He was released by the company in June 2022.

However, Stunt returned to Tony Khan's promotion earlier this month and unsuccessfully challenged his former stablemate, Perry, for the AEW TNT Championship.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Jim Cornette stated the Jacksonville-based promotion had an ''indie look,'' and Marko Stunt was one of the poster boys of the ''amateurish'' programming. The veteran opened up about Stunt's comeback, stating that the company had learned nothing.

"It has certainly not been a low rent in terms of expenditure, but AEW has had, and this is not a compliment, an indie look. A low-budget look. A f***ing outlaw feel. An amateurish, parody-ish, tongue-in-cheek element to some of their programming since they have been on the air. And Marko Stunt was one of the poster boys of that, and they've learned nothing,'' he said. [5:35 to 6:18]

Jim Cornette compares WWE Superstars to AEW stars

During the same episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, the veteran stated that most WWE talents, even during Vince McMahon's era, looked like athletes or celebrities. Furthermore, every time the Stamford-based promotion booked a normal-looking wrestler, they gave him or her an underdog story. However, according to Cornette, most AEW stars look like people who attend their shows.

"Say what you want about even the WWE under Vince, but 98.5% of the people on the program, if they don't look like athletes, they look like some kind of celebrity. And if they don't look like an athlete, Sami Zayn, that's the gimmick of the underdog that doesn't look like an athlete. He looks like a piece of s**t just like you a**holes in the stands. You can identify, but that's the gimmick. In AEW, they got 45 people with that gimmick!'' he said. [4:58 to 5:35]

It will be interesting to see if an AEW affiliate reacts to Jim Cornette's latest remarks in the coming days.
