WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently lavished praise on a former AEW TNT Champion. The star in question is none other than Powerhouse Hobbs.
Will Hobbs made his surprising AEW return on last week's edition of Dynamite, where he turned babyface and aligned himself with Ricochet against the Don Callis Family. Before suffering the injury, Hobbs was a part of the Don Callis Family.
In a recent edition of the Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross said he was glad to see the 33-year-old AEW Star return to television, which would help him get more exposure.
“Yeah, he’s a very good talent. I’ve been a supporter of Powerhouse Hobbs since he really started evolving, and he’s another guy that’s just coming back from an injury; he’s healthy; he looks great; strong as the ox, so I’m glad that he’s back on television. It’ll help the TV, and it will help Hobbs obviously to get more TV exposure; that’s the key thing. Guys should not keep track or how many wins or how many losses they have; they should focus on the match quality that they’re in. So, maximize your TV minutes is a good way of looking at that deal." JR called Hobbs a good signing by Tony Khan:
"Yeah, Hobbs is a star. He’s going to be — I’m anxious to see where he ends up at the end of his run somewhere down the road; he’s a young guy, so he’s still got plenty of time left. I’m a big fan of his and a proponent of his work; I think he can do — he has the ability to be much more significant in the big picture than not. He’s really talented. That was a good signing by Tony Khan." [H/T: Fightful]
Jim Ross is an AEW commentator
Jim Ross signed with AEW in 2019 after leaving WWE the previous year. JR has provided commentary for the Jacksonville-based promotion since then and was a full-time commentator on Dynamite during the early days of the show.
However, Ross has transitioned into a part-time commentator in All Elite Wrestling and occasionally provides commentary for some marquee matchups in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
It will be interesting to see if Jim Ross returns to WWE after his All Elite Wrestling contract expires.
