Jim Ross is the latest to react to Shane McMahon's viral picture with Tony Khan. He revealed whether he wants to see Shane in AEW.
The wrestling world was turned on its head when it was announced that Shane McMahon had a secret meeting with Tony Khan in Arlington, TX, last week. A picture from the meeting went viral on social media, which got a lot of people excited. This comes after it was rumored that the WWE legend was interested in joining AEW. Tony Khan even expressed delight in the past about having Shane in his promotion.
No specifics about the meeting have been revealed. However, Jim Ross addressed the subject on his Grilling JR podcast. He mentioned that the picture was cool to see and that Shane has brand value and could do a lot for the company.
"If Shane could help us, help AEW, then Tony would hire him, and Shane would accept the offer. I had never seen that picture [of Khan and McMahon meeting]. That’s surprising. That’s pretty cool, actually. Shane, he could add a lot. He could do some physical things, within reason. He has great name identity. People who know he is. You don’t have to stop and explain, ‘This is Vince McMahon’s son.’ That goes without saying." [H/T Fightful]
Jim Ross noted that he's known Shane since the latter was in high school and he has a good reputation. Ross also noted that Shane could help them in a lot of ways strategically.
"I like him. I’ve known him since he was in high school. He’s full of p**s and vinegar, always, to the point of being almost humorous at times, but he’s smart. Again, the audience, our target audience knows who the hell he is. He’s got a good reputation. If he does come there to work for Tony and AEW…where else does he go if he wants to stay in the pro wrestling business. I think he could help us in a lot of ways, strategically, as a TV character, obviously the main thing." [H/T Fightful]
Mercedes Mone claimed to have taken the viral picture of Shane McMahon and Tony Khan
The viral picture of Shane McMahon and Tony Khan has been the focal point for the past few days. It was clear from the picture that another person was in the room, but it wasn't known who this person was at the time. Additionally, there were more than two cups on the table, indicating that one more person was involved in the meeting.
Mercedes Mone took to social media to claim that she was the one who took the viral picture. While she didn't explicitly mention which photo, the timing of the tweet suggests that she is talking about the picture of Shane and Tony's secret meeting.
"lol I took that pic"
Check out her tweet here:
This could be Mercedes Mone trying to get herself some publicity and have the fans talk about her. However, since Mone was the first point of contact for Shane regarding AEW, it seems likely that she would have been involved in the meeting as well.
