Jim Ross commented on the possibility of a WWE Hall of Famer making his AEW debut. This legend has shown up on several Indie shows.

JBL's WWE career gained prominence as one-half of the tag team The Acolytes, and later APA, with Ron Simmons. However, after branching out into a singles career, he witnessed a meteoric rise. This saw him become a WWE Champion and one of the company's top stars.

Although it has been several years since his in-ring retirement, JBL in recent years managed Baron Corbin. But this role was short-lived as the pairing failed to get over with fans. More recently, the WWE Hall of Famer has appeared on several independent shows such as TNA, MLW, and GCW which caused fans to wonder if he would show up in AEW as well.

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross mentioned that it would be a good idea if JBL showed up in AEW as it would create a memorable moment:

A female WWE star said her life is in danger. Details HERE

“No, not at all, I think it’s a good idea. It adds to the presentation, it gives you a memorable moment in the ring in front of all the fans. Memorable moments are what we look for. You’re not going to remember every head and wrist lock during the show, they’re important to the process, no doubt. However, this adds a new element. As we’ve said on the show many times, I think surprises are very special and our fans love surprises. John showing up and doing his thing [would be] a surprise, and a fitting surprise. I’m not saying he should be full-time, because I don’t know if he wants to be full-time, but I do think on a special occasion, him making an appearance would be talked about.” [H/T Fightful]

Jim Ross comments on JBL's recent indie appearances

JBL's recent appearances on different independent promotions has raised a lot of eyebrows. Many fans and critics have also addressed the possible reason behind his appearance including Jim Ross.

During the same podcast episode, Jim Ross attributed JBL's return to the wrestling business to boredom:

“Boredom. I think it’s boredom. He loves the wrestling business and he’s bored of sitting on the sideline. He believes that he can be relevant again, he believes he can continue to develop his in-ring persona and I love the surprise aspects of not knowing where he’s going to show up. I know it’s counter productive because we’re trying to sell tickets." [H/T Fightful]

It will be interesting to see if John Bradshaw Layfield will make an appearance in AEW anytime soon.
