AEW commentator Jim Ross believes a former WWE star could be a great addition to the All Elite roster. The star in question is none other than Enzo Amore.
The 37-year-old became a popular act in WWE NXT alongside Big Cass (Big Bill) and was later moved to the main roster. Despite not winning Tag Team Gold, Enzo Amore and Big Cass maintained their popularity among the fans. However, the duo was broken up in 2017 and was eventually released. Enzo reportedly had heat backstage which was one of the major reasons behind his firing.
Speaking in a recent edition of his Grilling Jr podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross explained that Enzo Amore is a talented character and can make a lot of money in the Jacksonville-based promotion:
“Yeah, of course, I think so. Why not? Like I said earlier, it’s the same concept—you don’t turn your back on talented people if they want to come and contribute to your company. And, you know, again, Enzo brings a little baggage, but he’s colorful, he’s talented, and the upside… I mean, he’s not going to be a big investment to get on the roster, but over the long haul, he can certainly earn a lot of money."
Is this man the funniest man in wrestling?
JR added:
"He’s got that look, which is very unique. He’s talented as hell; he played a little college football, he’s an athlete, and a good athlete. So, why not give him a shot? You never know what’s going to hit. And, look at this—put that slide back up there. Look at how he’s outfitted himself. I think that’s important to realize—he’s thinking, he’s trying to reinvent and be different.” [H/T:RingsideNews]
Vince Russo explains why Enzo Amore's WWE career failed
After breaking up the tag team with Big Cass, Enzo Amore went on to become Cruiserweight Champion but was shortly released after his run as Champion. Big Cass was also released from the promotion in 2018.
In a recent edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW podcast, WWE veteran Vince Russo noted how Enzo stood out in the locker room due to his talent but his career suffered because he didn't fall in line.
"I mean, look at a guy like Enzo. With all the freaking talent that guy had, he stood out on that show, but he didn't fall in line. And what happened in Enzo's career? Just because he didn't fall in line."
It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan hires Enzo Amore to AEW and reunites him with Big Bill who has been a part of All Elite Wrestling for the past few years.
