AEW commentator Jim Ross has revealed that he wished a top WWE star was still with Tony Khan’s company. The star in question is none other than CM Punk.
Punk went to AEW in 2021 but was unceremoniously terminated in September 2023 after an altercation with Jack Perry backstage at the All In event. A lot has been said since then about the incident, with The Young Bucks even releasing the footage of the brawl.
Jim Ross, who is a well-respected person within the company, has now stated that he wished CM Punk was still with AEW. While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast the WWE Hall of Famer praised The Second City Saint and said he contributed greatly to the All Elite Wrestling roster.
"I get text messages from him on a somewhat frequent basis because he's just checking on me to see how I'm feeling," Ross said. "He likes me and he respects me, and it's reciprocal ... I miss CM Punk. I thought he contributed greatly to the AEW roster when he was with us. To be perfectly candid, I wish he still was. How do you not want a talent the level of CM Punk not still with your company? It, personality-wise, just did not work out, and that's unfortunate." [H/T Wrestling Inc]

Jeff Hardy opens up about relationship with WWE star CM Punk
Former WWE star Jeff Hardy had a bad relationship with CM Punk after the two had a feud in 2008, where the latter made some comments about his problem with drug use.
However, it seems like all that is now water under the bridge as Hardy has opened up and praised Punk. While speaking on the Muscle Memory podcast, The Charismatic Enigma called Punk ‘a superpower.’
“I’m very excited about rebuilding this time, not to burn it down, talking about my career and my existence. When I think about Punk, I always say he’s such a superpower. I had that superpower at one point in my life. I’m rebuilding to get it back because I have an amazing connection with the fans, as everybody knows, and I have to prove to myself and them that there is a little light inside of me that is going to shine brighter than ever,” Hardy said.
It is great to see him finally putting the past behind him and mending fences with the WWE star.
