After John Cena announced that he would be retiring in the coming year, a former WWE Superstar has already lined himself up as one who wishes to face him before that time comes. This would be Matt Cardona (fka Zack Ryder).

Cena has been in the industry for over two decades now and has cemented himself as one of the greatest ever to do it. The star is a 16-time world champion and has been involved in some of the greatest storylines in the company. During the Money in the Bank PLE, the legend showed up to announce that he would be retiring from active competition. He later stated that WrestleMania 41 next year would be his last.

Matt Cardona, who was with WWE for 15 years from 2005 to 2020, expressed how he wished to face John Cena during his retirement tour. He took to Twitter, stating that he wanted Cena.

"I want Cena. #MITB" Cardona wrote.

The two stars were involved in a storyline in 2015, with Cardona unsuccessfully challenging Cena for the United States Championship.

It remains to be seen whether he'll get his chance within the following year and whether he'll be one of those stars who gets to share the ring with John Cena before his retirement.
