Jon Moxley has made a bold claim about him being the AEW World Champion, as he believes he is the only one fit for the position. He also claimed that others think they have what it takes, but in reality, they don't.
After winning the world title at WrestleDream and retiring Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley has not been parading his title and has kept this in a briefcase. This was the first time that the world champion has not been acting like such, as he has instead been focusing on "fixing" AEW.
While speaking to Tom Valentino of The News-Herald, Jon Moxley talked about how he was the right guy to be at the top in AEW. He felt that he had earned his position, and was the only fitting to be there. He claimed that he would be sitting on the top until someone struck him down.
"This piece of metal goes from one suitcase to another, and there’s some paperwork filed, but, basically, nothing has changed. I’ve always been the guy in that position for AEW. That’s not something you can just win in a match or a job you apply for. It’s something you either are or you aren’t. It’s the chair I sit in until someone cuts my head off and takes my position."
He then called out those who wanted to go after him, saying that they weren't ready for the responsibility of being in his position. He mentioned how they needed to get their hands dirty, and others don't know what this entails.
"A lot of people think they want that position and think that’s the guy they want to be, but they don’t. Some of the biggest names - really big stars and talented people - want to be that, but they don’t know what that entails. The actual work that goes into being that guy is not nearly as glamorous as it seems. It’s not a position of glory. It’s not sitting on the hood of a car going down the street in a parade getting confetti thrown on me. You have to be in the ditch, in the foxhole. You have to get dirt under your fingernails. You’re not doing it for yourself. That’s something a lot of people who think they want to be in that position will never understand."
Jon Moxley claims he's the one under attack
Recently, Jon Moxley has found himself facing a new enemy, namely Orange Cassidy. Despite members of the locker room standing up to him, there has yet to be a big name who has joined the fight against the BCC.
For a few weeks now, there have been hints at Cassidy being the one to take the fight to the Blackpool Combat Club.
Speaking to Youngstown Studio, Jon Moxley claimed that he wasn't specifically targeting anyone, and if anything, it was him who had come under attack from the likes of OC, Daniel Garcia, and other members of the locker room.
"Maybe I'm the one under attack. You know there are always different perspectives to look at everything, so am I bullying this guy or is he coming after me? You know what I mean. Who's the antagonist here, really? You know, so there are a lot of questions to be answered." [0:30 - 1:30]
This Wednesday, tensions will be at their highest, with Orange Cassidy claiming that he'll finally take care of this problem that they have been facing. It remains to be seen what his course of action will be.
