In a rematch from their bout at NJPW Windy City Riot back in April which saw Mox dethrone Naito to hold the Japanese promotion's world title, Moxley would end up losing his prized possession. The IWGP World Title win marked a milestone for him as he became the first to hold a world title in WWE, AEW, and NJPW.
After several successful title defenses, Jon Moxley's biggest challenger would come via the leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon. Their first match pushed them both to the limit, even leaving a sea of blood in the ring.

This match did not reach that point, but the level of intensity was still there. At several points in the match, there were several near falls after each star was able to hit their respective finishers.
The match came to a close after Tetsuya Naito found an opening and hit his Destino finisher once more to take the win and bring the world title back to Japan.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Moxley and whether he will travel to Japan to reclaim the title.

If allowed to produce one final storyline involving his idols, he would have Orton lock horns with John Cena, would be their one last big feud as both of them seem to be approaching the tail end of their careers.
