A top champion has claimed that AEW star Kenny Omega was unhappy with the Jacksonville-based promotion. This was NJPW star and current Strong Openweight Champion, Gabe Kidd. He is regarded as one of the fastest-rising stars in NJPW and is slated to face Omega next week.
The Best Bout Machine made his grand return to AEW at the Worlds End pay-per-view. He then confronted the Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada as the crowd was on their feet to witness his comeback. While he returned to the promotion after more than a year, he paid a visit to NJPW before.
Kenny Omega returned at the NJPW Power Struggle event and met with an unexpected incident backstage. After cutting a heartfelt promo in the ring, he engaged in an argument with 27-year-old Gabe Kidd, which got physical later. A few days later, their match was made official for NJPW X AEW Wrestle Dynasty.
While speaking in an exclusive interview with NJPW, the Strong Openweight Champion took a massive jab at Kenny as he claimed that the latter wasn't happy to be in AEW and as an EVP. Gabe then suggested that he should leave the promotion.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
"I don’t care about this Kenny Omega touch. Whatever you think you’re doing, giving me a match at the Dome. I don’t need you. I don’t need you. He’s unhappy at his workplace. Well, leave then. You’re the president there. You’re a vice president there. If you’re not happy, f**k off," he said. [H/T - Fightful]
Gabe Kidd claims Kenny Omega left NJPW because of money
The former AEW World Champion was one of the top stars of NJPW but left the company when he and the other EVPs founded AEW. Kenny's upcoming opponent made some harsh comments on what he felt about the events that took place then.
While speaking backstage at Strong Style Evolved, Gabe Kidd called Kenny Omega a traitor for leaving NJPW.
"Do I ever not speak from the heart? Do I ever talk, and you think, ‘Oh, Gabe’s half-a**ing it today; his heart ain’t in it!’ Nah, ‘cause my heart’s always in it, forever, and you left, like a traitor, like a b**ch. You ran off for the money and realized that it can’t fulfill what’s inside," he said.
It will be interesting to see who among the two stars stands tall at NJPW X AEW Wrestle Dynasty.
