Veteran and wrestling legend Kevin Nash believes that a top AEW star is not going to be a noteworthy draw. The wrestler in question is HOOK.
The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil suffered a major loss at the latest All Elite Wrestling pay-per-view Dynasty 2024 where he was defeated by Chris Jericho for the FTW Title. The bout was set after Jericho, the self-proclaimed Learning Tree, shoved HOOK's father Taz, who was mediating a conversation between the two men on AEW Dynamite.
While reviewing the segment featuring Jericho, HOOK, and Taz on the Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash voiced his opinions on the 24-year-old budding star, drawing a parallel with the fictional character Freddie Miles while speaking about HOOK's gimmick.
"I was bigger than f****** HOOK, that's for sure. I don't know if he had like, f****** big league chew he was putting in his mouth, I don't know what the f*** he was doing, I don't get at all what his f****** gig is, it's brutal. It's very Freddie Miles from f****** 'Ripley.'"
The former WWE Champion further claimed that the New York native was not a reliable draw, before alluding to the controversial warning sent by the Oklahoma State Athletics Commission to AEW for taping a women's match featuring Nyla Rose in the state.
"He's not going to draw a f****** dime. Ever. Unless maybe he has a battle with a transgender female in Oklahoma." [33:00 - 33:58]
Chris Jericho broke his silence after winning the FTW Title at AEW Dynasty 2024
Despite being showered with boos and taunts from the live audience in the Chaifetz Arena, Chris Jericho had a successful outing at Dynasty 2024. Despite being pushed to his limit, The Lionheart won the FTW Championship from HOOK in an FTW Rules match after smashing the latter on the head with a baseball bat.
Jericho shared a photograph of himself with his newly-won title after the bout on Instagram. He thanked his fans for their support in the caption and vowed to share his knowledge with the All Elite Wrestling locker room in keeping with the new wrinkle to his in-ring character.
“Thanks to all of you who believed in me and cheered me on tonight in #StLouis and at home, as I WON the #FTWTitle from @730hook at #AEWDynasty tonight! Your love and encouragement took me to new heights and helped me to beat #Hook, who was at his best tonight!! #TheLearningTree promises to give Hook and all of the @aew talent who are in the #JerichoVortex only the best lessons…both in the ring and in life. See you on #AEWDynamite this Wednesday…new champ is out!”
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Chris Jericho's run as FTW Champion heading into Dynamite.
