Konnan has shared what appears to be a major tease regarding the professional future of an AEW performer. The latter is none other than El Hijo del Vikingo.
The high-flyer was put on the shelf by an unfortunate injury to his meniscus and ligament in February this year, but after subsequent surgery, the 27-year-old star has recovered and was cleared to return to action. He performed at a AAA Lucha Libre event on September 27, 2024, and his appearance was also seemingly teased for upcoming GLEAT shows this month.
Vikingo stunned AEW fans when he pushed former World Champion Kenny Omega to his limit in their highly memorable bout on a March 2023 episode of Dynamite. The bout saw The Best Bout Machine take home the win. He last competed in the Tony Khan-led promotion on a January 2024 episode of Rampage, wrestling in a four-way bout to decide the number one contender for the AEW International Title.
On a recent edition of the Keepin' It 100 LIVE podcast, Konnan made an interesting observation regarding El Hijo del Vikingo's status with All Elite Wrestling, claiming that the Mexican star is not signed with the Jacksonville-based promotion and that he could appear elsewhere sometime soon.

"No, he [Vikingo] does not work in [All Elite Wrestling], not under contract with AEW and pretty soon you may see him somewhere else,” said Konnan.
Konnan's similar claim about AEW and El Hijo Del Vikingo earlier this year
On a March 2024 edition of the same podcast, Konnan stated that El Hijo del Vikingo was not under contract with Tony Khan but rather signed to AAA. He also praised the former AAA Mega Champion, describing him as a "very good" performer.
“He’s not signed by Tony Khan,” Konnan said. “He’s signed to us (AAA) and he’s one of the very few talents, very good talents that we have that Tony hasn’t signed. What’s really fu**ed us up, when this finally happens we will have a more normal playing field is so we were supposed to get a TV deal like two years ago and then the pandemic, a lot of changes were done in the industry, so we’re on the road to that now.”
It remains to be seen if and when Vikingo will be featured next on All Elite Wrestling programming.
