Many former WWE stars are currently part of AEW. However, there is one ex-superstar who Tony Khan has yet to sign, and wrestling Konnan has revealed a potential reason why Khan may never offer him an All Elite contract.
Enzo Amore was on a meteoric rise during his time in NXT. He was able to cut entertaining promos, and he could wrestle in the ring. This helped him form a successful tag team with Big Bill, aka Big Cass. The duo were even promoted to the main roster.
However, Enzo Amore turned out to be his own worst enemy. He was a controversial star who had a lot of backstage heat in the company due to his antics. There were even reports that Roman Reigns kicked him off a WWE tour bus. Amore was suspended and later released in 2017 after he was accused of sexual assault. However, this didn't stop him from appearing in the audience during the 2018 WWE Survivor Series and caused disruption until he was ejected from the arena.
Despite several years since his WWE release, Enzo Amore has not appeared in AEW even though his former tag team partner, Big Bill, is a regular feature for the Jacksonville-based promotion. During a recent episode of the Keepin' It 100 Official podcast, Konnan claimed that AEW doesn't want to work with Enzo since he is known for being a heat magnet.
Charlotte Flair to return and wrestle a CURRENT CHAMPION?
"Well, I don't know why AEW doesn't want to work with him [Enzo Amore] because they got Big Bill over there, but here's the thing, bro, he had a lot of heat in WWE, a lot of heat with the boys because of the way he acted. And so now you get this accusation, the perfect reason to let you go. Probably if he hadn't had all that heat and he was likable, they would've worked with him, but he had heat," the veteran said. Jim Ross wants AEW to sign Enzo Amore
When AEW first launched in 2019, they signed a lot of former WWE stars to the roster. Enzo Amore was one of the names missing from the list, which surprised many fans, given how talented he was in the ring and on the mic.
For several years, fans have wondered why Enzo hasn't appeared in the Jacksonville-based promotion even after Big Bill's debut. On his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross acknowledged Amore's talent and said talented people like him should be hired since he could make a lot of money.
"Yeah, of course, I think so. Why not? Like I said earlier, it’s the same concept—you don’t turn your back on talented people if they want to come and contribute to your company. And, you know, again, Enzo brings a little baggage, but he’s colorful, he’s talented, and the upside… I mean, he’s not going to be a big investment to get on the roster, but over the long haul, he can certainly earn a lot of money."
It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan will sign Enzo Amore to AEW sometime in the future.
