Professional wrestling icon Konnan has weighed in on how some current AEW wrestlers are handling their careers. During a recent edition of his podcast Keepin' It 100, a user asked his opinion about several AEW wrestlers lacking presence outside the Jacksonville-based organization and who Konnan would push because they were underrated.
The veteran mentioned The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and former FTW Champion Brian Cage. Konnan referred to Cage as ''unselfish,'' and claimed, ''that was a problem!''
Cage made his professional wrestling debut in 2004 and had stints at Deep South Wrestling, TNA, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, ROH, and AEW. He signed with the Jacksonville-based promotion in 2020.
"He is very unselfish, yeah! That is a problem. There are guys like him [Brian Cage], The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega. There are a lot of them who suffered through the Indies, and they know what they went through, and they wanna be... I am like, 'Bro, you guys need to be more selfish when it's your turn; it's your turn to shine; it's not the other guy's turn, it's your turn!''' he said. [From 1:45 - 2:00]

Konnan says current AEW wrestler has 'zero charisma'
The wrestling veteran also gave his honest opinion on AEW star Trent Beretta. Referring to the Trent Beretta vs. Orange Cassidy encounter on the May 8 edition of Dynamite, Konnan said that Beretta lacked charisma.
Beretta and Cassidy lost to The Young Bucks in the World Tag Team Championship semi-final in April 2024. Later, Beretta turned heel on Cassidy.
"Here's a problem with me with that match with the two. Number one, Trent Beretta, is straight tumbleweeds and crickets. He has zero charisma, never has, and maybe never will. And it hurts when you are not charismatic. He hasn't really done anything in five years!'' he said.
Konnan added:
''And bro, they are turning him [Trent Beretta] heel, and he's getting heat on Orange Cassidy, and then he does a beautiful piledriver on the steps, where he should have them left laying and should have taken in an ambulance, but no, this guy came back from that." (02:21 - 02:54)
It will be interesting to see how Trent Beretta is booked in the coming weeks.
