A multi-time world champion has yet to renew his contract with WWE, and his future with the company seems uncertain. Meanwhile, many fans on Twitter are ready to welcome him to AEW.
The name in question is RAW Superstar Drew McIntyre. He is one of the most recognizable wrestlers in the world, having held several titles across promotions. He gained prominence in WWE during the Pandemic Era when he represented the company as a top babyface and World Champion.
It can't be denied that failing to capture the Undisputed Universal Title from Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle 2022 derailed McIntyre's momentum. He was also on a hiatus after WrestleMania 39, and his future with WWE seemed to be in doubt since his contract is expected to expire soon.
The Scottish Warrior is slated to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at Crown Jewel on November 4, 2023. While many expect him to dethrone The Visionary, a recent report suggested that he is yet to re-sign with the Stamford-based promotion.
If the report is accurate, McIntyre's future with WWE might be up in the air, as he could opt to part ways with his current employer once his contract concludes. Fans took to Twitter to react to the rumor, calling for The Scottish Warrior to debut in AEW upon his potential exit from the sports entertainment juggernaut.
Fans are ready to welcome Drew McIntyre to AEW, with some even asking WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H to let him go so Tony Khan could sign him. Here are some of the notable reactions:
Drew McIntyre comments on his future with WWE
During an interview with Hindustan Times, Drew McIntyre was asked about his future with the Stamford-based promotion ahead of Superstar Spectacle 2023.
McIntyre replied that he was focused on the present and aimed to deliver memorable performances:
“I mean, I keep reading the internet myself. I just saw something earlier. The internet keeps talking about my future, I guess. But my focus is on the here-and-now, like, I don’t look to the future, I don’t look to the past, I look to the present. And my job right now is just making sure we give everybody in Hyderabad the best show possible, and I’ll continue to give the best performance I can give at every show. I can say I don’t plan to be anywhere else. That’s as much as I can give.” [H/T Haus of Wrestling]
