One of AEW's most popular stars is set to miss the upcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view due to an injury that will keep him out for six weeks.
The star in question is Eddie Kingston. He has noticeably been absent from All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor as of late, with his last match being his loss to Claudio Castagnoli at ROH Supercard of Honor on March 31, 2022.
Many were sad to see Kingston lose another world title match, but the reason why he lost the bout might have come to light now. He recently announced at the latest ROH tapings in Orlando, Florida, that he would be on the sidelines for the next few weeks.
Kingston cut a promo for the live audience where he stated that he needed to have hernia surgery. He has been dealing with the health issue since September 2022. The Mad King also said that he hopes to be back in around six weeks, meaning that he should be ready to compete at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 25.
Eddie Kingston "quit" AEW back in March
It's been an interesting year already for Eddie Kingston, as he has managed to be one of AEW's most popular performers despite not featuring on any programming since March.
Following the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match on the March 1 edition of Dynamite, Lexy Nair wanted to get a word from Kingston on how he felt about the bout. The star responded by saying that he was quitting the company.
Kingston showed up in Ring of Honor on the premiere episode of ROH on HonorClub the following day, stating that he wanted to take the world title away from Claudio Castagnoli.
Since March 1, Kingston has appeared on Ring of Honor TV and been booked for companies like DDT and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. However, he had to cancel his NJPW appearance due to his injury.
