A week before Blood and Guts, one of the stars representing Team AEW expressed that he was not a fan of one of the men he would compete alongside for the match. This was Darby Allin talking about Swerve Strickland.
Last year, Allin and the current World Champion were engaged in an intense feud. This eventually continued until All In, and Darby, alongside his mentor Sting, faced Swerve and Christian Cage in a Coffin match.
In an exclusive interview, Darby Allin discussed working with Swerve and how he was willing to put his feelings aside just so that they could beat The Elite.
"But you know what really pi**es me off, is you got Swerve, I hate all these ads for Blood and Guts 'Team AEW led by Swerve.' Swerve doesn't lead s**t, he's not my leader. As far as I'm concerned, I was the one who put him in a coffin last year at All In and closed the casket...As far as Blood and Guts is concerned, I'm gonna put my history aside with Swerve just for one night, because we got bigger fish to kill and that is The Elite." With Team AEW being unsuccessful the first time at Double or Nothing, it remains to be seen how this new squad will do against The Elite next week at one of the most dangerous matches in professional wrestling.
