Major WWE Superstar seemingly references AEW on NXT

Earlier tonight on this week's edition of WWE NXT, a top star has seemingly gave a nod to a former top AEW faction that he was once a part of. This would be Shawn Spears mentioning The Pinnacle.

Around four months ago, The Chairman made his return to WWE NXT after spending around four years with Tony Khan's All Elite Wrestling. This was his second run with the developmental brand.

Tonight, he was featured in a video segment where he had a few words to say ahead of the WWE NXT Heatwave Premium Live Event happening this weekend. At the event, he is set to be part of a fatal four-way match for the NXT Championship. The champion Trick Williams will be defending his title against Spears, Ethan Page, and Je'Von Evans.

During his promo, his choice of words was interesting, as he claimed that he "will reach the pinnacle." This could be a reference to The Pinnacle, a heel faction in AEW. In 2021, MJF introduced the faction which included himself, Spears, FTR, and Wardlow. They were formed to combat Chris Jericho's Inner Circle.

“This Sunday, I return home to Toronto and I will reach the pinnacle.”

With Spears having never held the NXT Championship so far, could he finally capture the top prize this weekend? Fans have to wait for NXT Heatwave to know the answer.
