Maria Kanellis is a wrestling manager who is currently signed with AEW and ROH. The former WWE Superstar recently took to social media to provide an update regarding her health.
Kanellis established her name in the pro-wrestling industry through her stint in WWE, where she worked initially as a backstage interviewer and eventually as an in-ring competitor. She has made appearances in numerous other promotions, including TNA Wrestling, NJPW, and Ring of Honor. Kanellis is currently signed with AEW, where she made her debut in 2022 alongside her husband, Mike Bennett, and the latter's tag team partner, Matt Taven.
In a social media post last month, Kanellis revealed that a mass which had been discovered in her adrenal gland had become a cause for concern, and detailed the medical procedures she intended to undergo to treat it. After a fan on X/Twitter shared a photograph of the 42-year-old alongside AEW-ROH up-and-comer Griff Garrison (whom Kanellis is currently managing, alongside Cole Karter, in Ring of Honor), she responded by stating that she was living her "best life" until she goes under the knife in September, as she had disclosed earlier.
"Surgery in September for a mass on my adrenal gland but I am living my best life until then. @griffgarrison1 @ringofhonor," Maria Kanellis shared.

Maria Kanellis suffered a heartbreaking loss earlier this month
Maria Kanellis frequently offers her fans glimpses into her personal life on social media. The First Lady of ROH revealed having suffered a huge loss earlier this month.
Taking to Instagram on August 5, 2024, Kanellis disclosed the unfortunate demise of her grandmother. The Illinois native shared several photographs of her grandmother with other members of their family and penned a long, heartfelt message, paying tribute to her namesake:
"My YaiYai passed away on Monday. Maria Kanellis, my synónymos, was 95 years old. YaiYai was an incredibly strong, hardworking, and fearless woman from Sparta, Greece. YaiYai never learned to drive, so when she would babysit us, we would walk everywhere. And even still, she would be in a skirt, blouse, scarf, clip on earrings, and kitten heals (sic). She used to garden with her bare calloused hands and a kitchen knife in a skirt and loved to play cards while drinking ouzo. She and my Papou came to America to build a life together and they did. An incredible life, YaiYai and Papou were married for over 60 years, they owned 2 restaurants, raised 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and had 8 great-grandchildren."
We at Sportskeeda Wrestling send Maria Kanellis our deepest condolences and also wish her the best for her upcoming surgery.
