Former AEW veteran Matt Hardy has talked about the latest reports linking Shane McMahon to a move to All Elite Wrestling. He mentioned how at this point, all of these were just hearsay.
For some time now, Shane O'Mac has been linked to the Tony Khan-led promotion, as according to Jim Ross' co-host Conrad Thompson, he had already reached out to some of the company's stars. The AEW President has already commented on this and claimed that he hasn't spoken to Shane, but he was open to the idea of him working with them.
On a recent edition of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the former WWE Superstar addressed the situation and revealed that none of the reports were true. He talked about how Shane McMahon reached out to others, wondering why his name was linked with AEW. Hardy found out about this after others texted him about it.
"He’s not. I heard from someone…None of that was true. It’s 'Matt Fiction,' 100%, yeah. It would be wild. Shane reached out to someone, and said like, ‘Why is all this talk of me and AEW, why’s this going on?’ People started texting me about it, and reached out to someone and asked them about it, which was interesting.” [H/T - RSN]

Shane McMahon was recently spotted with a major AEW champion
One of the recent happenings that fueled the possibility of Shane McMahon heading to AEW was him running into Mercedes Moné at the airport.
She recently revealed in her fan newsletter what went down during the encounter. The CEO talked about how following Forbidden Door, she was at the airport, the now double champion didn't expect to run into Shane. She then teased how this could be a fated meeting and a sign of something to come.
"After it all, by only the fates aligned – I walked into the airport, was in line by the bagel shop when I suddenly looked up, and there he was, just as surprised as I was. My first day being a double titleholder and the first wrestler and former WWE Superstar I see is [Shane] McMahon… Come on, if that isn’t the universe working in divine timing, I don’t know what else it could be."
PWInsider was one of those to report on the meetup, as they mentioned how the topic of AEW came up during their brief conversation. It remains to be seen how big of an impact this encounter will have on plans featuring Shane McMahon.
