Matt Hardy comments on an AEW star's future if he had joined WWE. This star is a former champion in AEW.
Will Ospreay is one of the most entertaining and popular wrestlers in the world of professional wrestling. Hence, when Ospreay's time with NJPW was coming to an end, he attracted interest from both AEW and WWE but opted to sign with the former instead.
It turned out to be a decision best suited for him as his run in AEW has been quite impressive. In such a short time he established himself as a main event star and even won the AEW International Championship. However, one will always wonder what would've happened if the Aerial Assassin had joined WWE.
Speaking on his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the wrestling veteran stated that Will Ospreay's growth would've been slow at the start but he would've been able to develop his character which could've helped him become a massive star in the long run:
"I think if [Ospreay went] to WWE, [he doesn't become a star] as fast, but I think it is more impactful," Hardy said. "He also gets some of the 'WWE machine' behind him. ... I think he would do more character work, even more than just him being a natural on the mic." [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
Matt Hardy says AEW broke a major rule during a recent Blood & Guts match
Last week on AEW Dynamite, Team AEW and The Elite squared off in a Blood & Guts match. The match became a talking point after Jack Perry was hit in the head with an unprotected chair shot. Since then, many people have commented on the controversial spot.
Speaking on his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy mentioned that AEW has been adamant about doing unprotected chair shots but broke the rules this time for some reason:
"I guess it kind of depends on what perception AEW is trying to project because I know there has been like ... they've been very adamant about not doing unprotected chair shots in the past, and apparently this one was green-lit and cleared for whatever reason. Maybe because it was a big match or the drama, I don't know," said Hardy. [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
In the end, it was Team AEW who picked up the win over The Elite after Matthew Jackson quit during the match.
