Matt Hardy has had some incredible stints in his wrestling career, and after bidding goodbye to AEW earlier this year, he is now performing in TNA. Hardy recently revealed his thoughts about the booking aspect of Tony Khan's company on a podcast.

On the Busted Open podcast, Matt Hardy said that the Jacksonville-based company spends more time trying to create five-star-rated matches than moments for individual wrestlers. Professional wrestling analysts like Dave Meltzer rate matches and ones awarded five-star ratings are usually rare.

The Sensei of Mattitude spoke about the star power he and his brother still have, recalling his time at WrestleCon 2024, which took place in Philadelphia, and Broken 2.0 spoke about his experience there.

"Look, we have incredible star power,” Matt Hardy said. “If you were at Wrestlecon in Philadelphia, it was outrageous how much we signed, how many people that were there to see us. We have fans coming up crying to us like it’s 2000 all the time. But I feel like AEW is more focused on having a five-star match as opposed to having a segment that is hugely impactful and makes a moment,” he said. [23:35 - 24:00]

Matt Hardy has previously aired his unhappiness about the way he was booked in AEW

Matt Hardy was with the Jacksonville-based company from 2020 to 2024 and chose not to continue his contract with Tony Khan's company. Since then, Matt has vented his negative views with AEW booking on an episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy.

"I'm very motivated by like those last 11 months I had in AEW. I wasn't very happy with and just uh, some of the feedback that followed me and my brother like you know I turned that from a negative into a positive and instead of being frustrated with any of it; I use it as a as fuel to work harder and to prove a point..." he said. Matt's brother, Jeff Hardy, was also with AEW from 2022 to 2024 and grabbed headlines when he voiced his frustrations over being booked on Rampage and not on Dynamite. His injury due to a botch by Sammy Guevara also grabbed headlines.

The brothers are no longer with Tony Khan, and while the two have reunited on TNA, it remains to be seen what they plan.
