Former AEW star Matt Hardy recently made his pick on who should be the one to dethrone Bryan Danielson. The star being discussed is Hangman Page. The Sensei Of Mattitude currently performs in TNA after his contract with All Elite Wrestling expired in April 2024.
The Anxious Millennial Cowboy and The American Dragon have faced each other multiple times. Their most recent bout happened at the finals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament, where Bryan emerged victorious. The latter then went on to capture the AEW World Championship at All In pay-per-view by defeating Swerve Strickland. Both the stars emerged victorious at All Out recently in their respective matches.
Following his title win, Danielson announced that he would only retire as a full-time wrestler when he lost his world championship. While speaking on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the 49-year-old said he would love to see Hangman Page retire Bryan Danielson. He said after potentially retiring Bryan, Page and Swerve Strickland could have a brief program for the title.
“I think Hangman [Page] is going to be great as a heel. Obviously he’s been so vicious. He’s been such a d*******, just a really a malicious, terrible individual. I would love to see that happen, if he was the guy that actually retired Danielson, take the title from him, whatever, and you could build back to the Swerve thing and I think there would be automatic equity in it already if they did that," Matt said. Bryan Danielson was betrayed by The Blackpool Combat Club at All Out
The American Dragon retained his AEW World Championship against Jack Perry at All Out pay-per-view. Following the contest, the BCC stood tall in the ring, and a few moments later, he was suffocated by Jon Moxley with a plastic bag.
After the shocking turn of events, Bryan Danielson was checked out by medics. However, no update on him has been provided yet.
It remains to be seen what is next for Hangman Page after his brutal victory over Swerve Strickland in the Lights Out Steel Cage match at All Out.
