Mercedes Moné spoke up about AEW potentially surpassing a major wrestling promotion soon. The company in question is World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

Since its foundation in 2019, AEW has emerged as a viable competing brand to the monopoly that had been wielded by WWE as the leading pro wrestling institution in the US. Fans and veterans have consequently drawn comparisons between AEW and WCW, as the latter mounted stiff competition against the Stamford-based company in the 1990s before ultimately being sold to WWE in 2001.

Despite presenting world-class matches and compelling storylines across three weekly television shows, many individuals have used AEW's recent decline in viewership figures and live attendance to speculate on the company's downturn and possible future demise, similar to what happened to WCW.

However, five years in, the Tony Khan-led promotion is still going strong, having recently staged the 250th episode of Dynamite in Little Rock, Arkansas. The show featured several top stars in action, including Mercedes Moné, who successfully defended her TBS Title against Nyla Rose.

Earlier this month, Moné officially revealed the name of her newsletter, Mone Mag. On a recent edition of her newsletter, The CEO discussed the anticipation she had felt regarding the 250th episode of Dynamite. She highlighted the importance of the momentous milestone, as the Wednesday-night show is seemingly set to outlast WCW's flagship program Monday Nitro - which aired 288 episodes overall - shortly.

The Jacksonville-based company has survived much longer than it was expected to have by many doubters, Mone noted, and is close to staying active longer than the Ted Turner-founded promotion was able to.

“I was looking forward to Dynamite 250. This is a really big milestone for AEW as we are so close to surpassing WCW records in terms of being around when a lot of people said that we weren't going to survive.”

The 250th episode of Dynamite was notably quite successful in terms of ratings as well, showing a massive spike in viewership compared to previous weeks.

Mercedes Moné was attacked by Britt Baker on AEW Dynamite 250

Mercedes Moné is currently finding herself in the cross-hairs of Britt Baker. The DMD issued a challenge to Moné earlier this month to face her at All In 2024, but the latter has yet to accept the challenge, and has avoided physicality with Baker in recent weeks.

After retaining her TBS Championship against Nyla Rose on Dynamite 250, The Boss ripped up a Britt Baker sign carried by a fan wearing a Sting mask. The fan, however, shockingly knocked Moné to the floor and unmasked themselves to reveal that it was Baker herself. The Doctor attempted to trade blows with the former IWGP Woman's Champion, but the two women would be separated by security.

Moné has since appealed to the FBI to deal with Baker for supposedly harassing her. It remains to be seen whether their All In 2024 bout will be made official this month.
