Mercedes Mone's advocate, Kevin Undergaro, opened up about her AEW run. He even referenced a former WWE champion's disappointing run-out with the company.
Saraya looked done and dusted after she suffered a serious neck injury several years ago while at the Stamford-based promotion. However, she was able to revive her career after getting clearance from the doctors to compete again. This time she joined All Elite Wrestling. She had a great start to her run and feuded with Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. She even won the AEW Women's World Championship.
However, since losing the title, Saraya hasn't done anything of prominence in the company and has barely been seen on television. It seemed like her push had come to a screeching halt. Hence, when Mercedes Mone joined the company, a lot of people were concerned about a similar fate.
Speaking to the Heal Squad, Kevin Undergaro spoke about Mone, stating that he was always on edge about her current AEW run. He felt she was a big enough star who did not need to take unnecessary risks inside the ring. He also emphasized how a good character and storyline compensate for needless risks taken inside the squared circle.
"She's Mercedes Mone. She doesn't need to be doing all this dangerous and crazy stuff in the ring. It doesn't really pay off with the fans like you think it does. Other people, outside of the ring, if you tell a really good story, if you have a good character developed, you don't even care. That's the dessert, when they go in the ring," he said.
He went on to compare Mone to Saraya, who had a feature film made and has the same amount of followers as the former but was barely even being booked properly after spending a few years in AEW.
"I'm just scared because there is a talent there right now who has the same amount of followers as Mercedes, had a big wide release feature film made about her, and is kind of not doing that much there now, years later. I can't help what I see could happen," he said. [H/T Fightful]
Mercedes Mone's advocate claims she is on a "different level" than most AEW talent
Undoubtedly, Mercedes Mone is one of the most well-known female wrestlers in the world. She gained a lot of traction due to her accomplishments in WWE, and hence her debut in AEW was the talk of the town.
During the same interview, Kevin Undergaro mentioned that a rep from a shoe company was interested in Mone. He also claimed that she was on a whole other level compared to the rest of the AEW locker room. According to Kevin, only Logan Paul can match her in WWE.
"There was a rep from a major shoe chain that was talking. With Mercedes, being her advocate, I can't help when I know, she's on a different level than the talent. Most of the talent there. I would say all of it. Just in terms of her experience and her level of fame and what she's achieved. If she was at the other place, the competition, the same would be said with the exception of maybe, current roster, Logan Paul. He's a phenom," Keven Undergaro said. [H/T to Figthful]
It looks like Mercedes Mone is currently set to feud with Britt Baker after the two women came face-to-face last week on Dynamite after the latter's return.
