An AEW veteran has just named MJF and Bryan Danielson as stars he would want to face should he retire today. This would be Jeff Jarrett.
The veteran may have almost four decades of wrestling, but he has kept it going. This year, he has been one of the more active names on the roster, with his most recent match being last month against Hangman Adam Page in a Lumberjack Strap match.
In a recent edition of his My World podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked who he'd love to face should he have his retirement match today. He mentioned how it would have to be someone 20 years younger than him in what could be a passing of the torch moment. He then realized MJF would be a perfect fit for the situation.
“It’s definitely got to be somebody younger than me. 20 years younger, so I’ve got to look at somebody in their 30s. Oh boy. MJF."

He also mentioned wanting to face Bryan Danielson. The Last Outlaw wanted to beat Bryan and tap out to him later in the match.
“I’d like to drag Bryan Danielson’s a** out to the ring and just beat the s**t out of him and then let him tap me out. [laughs] I’ll drag him out. That’d be fun.” [H/T Fightful]
Funnily, this indeed happened during their last match. Jeff Jarrett blindsided Bryan on the entrance ramp and the two slugged it out around the arena. Danielson would win by getting the three-count after hitting the Busaiku Knee with a steel chair.
Jeff Jarrett talked about Bryan Danielson's retirement
The veteran was present during Bryan Danielson's retirement at AEW WrestleDream, as fans saw him lose his title to Jon Moxley.
He was even present during the Blackpool Combat Club's attack on the American Dragon, as he was one of those who came to his aid. But they were too late, as the BCC had already done the job.
He spoke about this on his podcast, feeling the atmosphere was very emotional. He could feel this from the crowd, as he believed that no one expected this outcome.
“I’ve never felt, because you could feel a crowd, even if they’re not yelling, it was really, really emotional. For him to be heading in there as the champion, and to go out that way, the people in the arena, I don’t think they expected him to lose under any circumstance, being that [the show] was in his backyard, and just how that last scene felt. [...] It was an emotional night," he said.
Bryan Danielson has only retired from full-time wrestling, so this match with Jeff Jarrett could happen should Bryan be willing to come back to give Double J the beating he wants in his final match.
