MJF just opened up about CM Punk, the two men had a heated feud in AEW.
When CM Punk joined the Jacksonville-based promotion, fans waited with eagerness for him to clash against the best talker in the company - MJF. When the two men kickstarted their feud, it was a verbal sparring session for the ages as they took shots at each other.
The two men even faced each other on two occasions with Friedman winning the first match while Punk came back and won their second bout which was a brutal dog collar match.
Despite their heated rivalry, MJF considers CM Punk a mentor to him. Speaking on the Casual Conversations podcast, Maxwell Jacob Friedman mentioned that Punk mentored him through hate.

MJF claims he is Ric Flair incarnated
Maxwell Jacob Friedman is one of the most arrogant men in all of professional wrestling. He isn't afraid to make fun of the fans while also praising himself to no end. This has helped him gain notoriety as one of the best heels in the business.
Recently, Maxwell did the unthinkable as he defeated Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship. Following this win, Ric Flair took to social media to congratulate the AEW star. He also posted a side-by-side pic of himself with Friedman.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the former AEW World Champion spoke about Flair's message and claimed that he is Ric Flair incarnated only better than the wrestling legend.
“There’s a reason that after my match, Ric Flair posted a side-by-side comparison photo. I’m Ric Flair incarnated, and with all due respect to Ric, better,” he said. [H/T - Sports Illustrated]
It will be interesting to see who will be first in line to challenge MJF for the AEW International Championship.
