MJF addressed his bewilderment over his upcoming title match at AEW All In 2024. His opponent for the pay-per-view is none other than Will Ospreay.
In his first All Elite encounter with The Aerial Assassin, MJF managed to dethrone the AEW International Champion on the 250th episode of Dynamite last month. The match had a nail-biter of a finish and saw Friedman pinning Ospreay with seconds left on the one-hour countdown after knocking the English star out with his signature Dynamite Diamond Ring.
The Wolf of Wrestling discarded the International Title in the garbage and awarded himself the re-christened AEW American Champion on the July 24, 2024, episode of Dynamite. However, Ospreay spoiled his celebration and informed Friedman that the latter would defend the American Title against him at All In 2024.
Speaking to Cultaholic in a recent interview, MJF, while evidently in character, expressed confusion at being booked in a re-match against Will Ospreay despite his "decisive" win over the former Don Callis Family member on Dynamite 250. He speculated that Tony Khan may have scheduled the bout to provide Ospreay a platform in his home country.

"I don't know why this match is happening," MJF said. "It was a very decisive win [on Dynamite]. Some would say an easy dub; some, not me, some. I'm a little perplexed that it's happening. Maybe it's because it's the kid's hometown, there's a little leniency here, Tony Khan feels bad for him. I already got to feel the kid out. I don't see the match on August 25th at Wembley lasting longer than the last one, because now I totally got the kid's number. I know all of his movements. It's going to be embarrassing, kind of like the Euro Cup," MJF said. [H/T Wrestling Inc]
MJF recently fired off against former AEW tag partner Adam Cole
MJF had a memorable run as a babyface last year with Adam Cole. Unfortunately, The Panama City Playboy eventually betrayed Friedman following his AEW World Title loss to Samoa Joe at Worlds End 2023. Cole revealed himself to have been The Devil and unveiled his new stable, The Undisputed Kingdom, whose members assaulted MJF and put him on the shelf for months.
Friedman made his shocking All Elite comeback at Double or Nothing 2024, interrupting Adam Cole's promo and destroying him with a brainbuster.
Explaining his stint as a face in 2023 during an interview with Cultaholic, The Salt of the Earth blamed the former NXT Champion for his change in attitude and fired off a startlingly vicious shot at the latter.
"I had a friend at the time, who I wish died of d*** cancer, and he convinced me to let the people in," MJF said. "I did, and I learned my lesson, and it's never going to happen again."
It remains to be seen if MJF will retain his American Title against Will Ospreay at All In.
