Top AEW star MJF capped a remarkable year in 2024. At the very start of the new year, he laid his plans, sending major shockwaves across the landscape.
Toward the end of the AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen episode, the company aired a vignette of MJF from last week's Worlds End pay-per-view. The Salt of the Earth was covered in blood and gloated about his victory over Adam Cole, retaining his coveted Dynamite ring.
The Salt of the Earth claimed that now that his foes are in the rearview, he is set on reclaiming the AEW World Championship. This made current champion Jon Moxley his next target.

Maxwell lost the World Championship to Samoa Joe at the 2023 AEW Worlds End. Moreover, he spent 2024 largely away from the title picture while engaging in some exciting feuds.
