A top name in AEW has heaped praise on former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. The star in question is none other than Bryan Danielson.
The American Dragon shares a lengthy personal and professional history with The Purveyor of Violence. The two men were colleagues in WWE, and are currently members of The Blackpool Combat Club in AEW, alongside Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta. The faction reunited earlier this week to defeat a team of CMLL talent in an eight-person tag match on Dynamite.
Danielson recently showered praise on Moxley during an interview with Sports Illustrated. He complimented the distinctive mindset of The Ace of the World, applauding Moxley for his recent IWGP World Title win and voicing hope that his run with NJPW's top prize will continue for some time.
"Mox did this, he created this. He has a mindset unlike anyone else. There will never be another Jon Moxley. There is no one like him."
The 43-year-old star went on to praise Moxley as one of the best wrestlers in the world. Danielson expressed his pride in the star as well as his admiration for Moxley for his work and for pushing the envelope through his performances.
"To me, he is among the very best in the world. I’m super proud of Mox. But it’s less pride I feel, and more admiration. I admire what he’s been able to do. I admire the risks he’s taken and the performances he puts in every single time he goes out there." [H/T - Sports Illustrated]
Bryan Danielson is set to participate in 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament for an AEW World Title shot at AEW All In 2024.
Former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley on his pro wrestling legacy
Jon Moxley has been one of pro wrestling's most exciting and controversial figures for some time. The Ohio-native is notorious for his bold and often provocative performances inside the ring, as he is seemingly comfortable with traditional bouts as well as violent deathmatches.
The former AEW World Champion recently assessed his own legacy in the industry during an interview with Sports Illustrated. Moxley argued for his originality and uniqueness as a performer, asserting that he would have to assign his own distinct space outside of the usual commonplace classifications in pro wrestling.
"I’m the only Jon Moxley there is. I don’t see another one walking in any f-----g time soon. When it’s all said and done, and I’ve been eaten by a cougar or something, and people look back on everything, I like the idea that you won’t know where to classify me in history. You don’t know where to put me on your lists or your rankings or whatever the f--k. You have no idea where to classify me, but you can’t ignore me, so you’re going to have to give me my own space… I like that." [H/T - Sports Illustrated]
Jon Moxley will defend his IWGP Title next against EVIL at NJPW Dominion 2024 in a Lumberjack Deathmatch.
