Nick Gage set to face 49-year-old WWE legend in a first-time-ever match

Nick Gage is scheduled to face a WWE veteran in a blockbuster match later this week. The star he will face is Matt Hardy.

The former United States Champion made a name for himself alongside Jeff Hardy in the Stamford-based promotion. The 49-year-old also worked in AEW for four years, from 2020 to 2024. Hardy departed the company in April this year and is wrestling at TNA but hasn't signed an official deal yet.

Meanwhile, Nick Gage is known for his hardcore matches. He wrestles in GCW and other independent promotions. He also appeared in AEW in 2021 as a part of the MJF-Chris Jericho feud. Gage wrestled the FTW Champion as a second labor out of five and lost the bout.

Recently, GCW announced a first-time match between Matt Hardy and Nick Gage. The duo will square off in Cleveland on August 2, 2024.

Matt Hardy talks about the TNA-WWE crossover

After leaving AEW, the 49-year-old star and his brother, Jeff Hardy, have reunited at TNA. With the recent crossovers between TNA and the global sports entertainment juggernaut, Matt hopes to be featured in WWE, too.

While speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Matt Hardy revealed he wants to capture the NXT Tag Team Championship alongside Jeff if they ever return to the company.

"In wrestling never say never, and I will say that the NXT Tag Team titles are not on our list of titles that we've won, so we are interested in that. And I think this crossover between NXT and TNA's great. It's exciting, it's unpredictable, and I think that's a positive for the business and the industry." he said.

It remains to be seen when will the Hardy Boys return to WWE.
