Jim Cornette has been vocal about his criticism of Tony Khan's booking decisions in AEW. He recently highlighted how CM Punk seemingly avoided being buried by the company.
CM Punk was one of the biggest names the Tony Khan-led company signed in 2021. During his run, he headlined numerous pay-per-views and won the World Title twice. However, he had real-life skirmishes with fellow wrestlers like The Elite and Jack Perry, resulting in his exit from the promotion in September 2023.
On the Drive-Thru podcast, Jim Cornette criticized AEW's booking of top names like Adam Copeland (fka Edge), Kazuchika Okada, Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks), and Saraya. He further claimed that Punk was the only talent that wasn't buried by the company.
"Now, we have a got a track record. The only talent that they didn't kill off, bury, diminish, or make less than they were before when he came to the company is CM Punk, and they ran him off outright. Everybody else has been made marginal, immaterial, less than they were before, hasn't panned out, has been booked into oblivion. From Okody [Kazuchika Okada] and Mercedes and Ostrich [Orange Cassidy] and Edge and on and on, and on. Where's Paige, Saraya, whatever they call her these days." [18:17 - 19:11]

Jim Cornette on Kevin Owens possibly signing with AEW
Kevin Owens' WWE contract is seemingly set to expire in nine months. Meanwhile, fans have been speculating about his future in pro wrestling.
On The Experience podcast, Jim Cornette said the former Universal Champion wouldn't sign with All Elite Wrestling after the conclusion of his WWE deal. He also took shots at Tony Khan's leadership skills in the process.
"I really can't imagine anywhere else in the world it would pay me [speaking on behalf of Owens] even a remotely fraction of the money that they are paying me right now, besides AEW, wherein I might be able to play with more of my friends, but I would be at the mercy of a f***ing lunatic [referring to AEW head booker Tony Khan] running the asylum." Will Owens join All Elite Wrestling to work with The Young Bucks? Fans must stay tuned to find out.
