Chris Jericho is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. However, he has yet to face off against a popular AEW star in singles action.
Mark Briscoe too is a legend in the world of professional wrestling. He made a name for himself as a tag team specialist along with his brother, Jay Briscoe. Together, the duo dominated ROH's tag team division for several years. They also wrestled for various promotions around the world and won several championships.
After Jay Briscoe passed away in 2023, Mark continued wrestling as a singles competitor and eventually found success when he won the ROH World Championship earlier this year. Currently, Briscoe and his faction, The Conglomeration, are feuding with The Learning Tree. They have competed in a few tag team matches so far.
Chris Jericho and Mark Briscoe are set to compete for the ROH World Championship at AEW WrestleDream. This will be the first-ever singles match between both men. During a recent interview with Fightful, Mark Briscoe talked about facing Jericho for the first time despite being in the business for over two decades.

"To me, it’s attributed to the beauty of professional wrestling, how something like that can be the case. Guys who have been doing it at the highest level, at the same exact time, but never crossed paths. There are so many different flavors. Pro wrestling is different strokes for different folks. You got lucha libre, strong style, death match wrestling, everything pro wrestling is. The beauty of pro wrestling is that it’s the greatest variety show in the world. It is cool where a guy like me and a guy like Jericho, when our paths finally do cross. We’re almost there. It’s going to be wild," he said. [H/T Fightful]
Chris Jericho wants to help Mark Briscoe get to the next level
Chris Jericho is now at that point in his career where he can help the younger talent get to the next level. Jericho has done that for several AEW talents already and he plans to do the same with the ROH World Champion.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Jericho spoke positively about Mark and said that he wanted to help him get to the next level.
"We're going to beat the hell out of each other. He's batsh*t crazy. What a talent that connects with the audience. I'm not going to say Dusty Rhodes because no one is Dusty Rhodes. He doesn't look like the typical wrestler; he doesn't act like the typical wrestler. He's a special talent and a special character. I want to help him get to the next level," Jericho said. It will be interesting to see whether Mark Briscoe is able to retain his title against Chris Jericho at WrestleDream on October 12.
