Not so long ago, the talent stream between WWE and AEW seemed to be moving in a single direction, but over the last year, multiple All Elite Wrestling stars have made the jump to the Stamford-based company. Rumors are now swirling that The Lucha Bros. could be the next to hop the fence, and the Mexican stars fueled that speculation with new trademark applications.

Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix are foundational talents in All Elite Wrestling. The real-life brothers, who are former AEW World Tag Team and Trios Champions, have been one of the most popular tag teams in the company since its early days. However, as their contracts wind down, reports have emerged that WWE is interested in signing the high-flying stars.

Penta and Fenix recently added some fuel to the speculative fire by filing for several trademarks with the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Working under the Zero Miedo Corp., Penta has filed for the terms 'Zero Miedo,' 'AN1MO,' and 'Cero Miedo.'

Meanwhile, Rey Fenix, under the MEXA KING brand, has filed for 'Fuego,' 'Rey Fuego,' and 'King Fuego.' Both brothers filed trademarks for their current names, Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix, back in May and June, respectively.

AEW star Penta El Zero Miedo is open to signing with WWE

It's unclear what the plans are for The Lucha Bros. once their contracts expire, but if they choose to test the waters of free agency, they're certain to receive substantial offers from the top companies in the wrestling world.

Recent reports have indicated that Penta and Fenix are looking for the best deals at this stage of their careers, and WWE would likely accommodate the Mexican stars with lighter schedules if that's what they're looking for.

Speaking to YouTuber Lalo Elizarrarás in June, Penta revealed that WWE's interest was just a rumor, and while he's open to signing with the Stamford-based company, he's still focused on AEW at the moment:

"It was only a rumor, never a request to me or my agent. [...] [WWE] would be a good episode in my career but I do not like to fantasy book. If it happens, it happens. I am focused on AEW and I am happy where I am at right now," he said.

Penta is now 39 years old, while Rey Fenix is 33. The two have found major success in Tony Khan's promotion, and AEW's new partnership with CMLL is currently flourishing, providing the two with more avenues to explore. Whether they stick with All Elite Wrestling or test the waters of WWE remains to be seen.
