A popular star explains why he chose AEW over WWE. They also provided a glimpse into the offer he received from Tony Khan's promotion.
A.J. Befumo and his son Eric better known as Big Justice are a popular father-son duo who post food reviews on TikTok. They are known for their vlogs which they post from the retail chain Costco. The duo gained a lot of traction recently after one of their songs called "We Bring The Boom" went viral online.
AJ and Big Justice even made an appearance at All Out. However, what many people may not know is that AJ is an Indie wrestler who used to work with Sonjay Dutt back in the day. During a recent interview with I Still Call It A Lariat, AJ said that he was waiting for the call from WWE when he received a call from Sonjay Dutt instead:
"A lot can be learned from this. Business and relationships can be learned from this story. You have to show up with value, big value. When everything happened, I put it out there, 'I would love to make one WWE appearance.' I put it out there, put it to our management and let everyone that I know, know about it."
He continued to say that AEW's offer was a no-brainer for him:
"I get a call from Sonjay Dutt. Sonjay said to me, 'We've known each other 20 years. I know you're waiting for WWE. All WWE is ever going to do is bring you to WWE. I'm calling you to bring AEW to you. Let's bring the double chunk chocolate cookies. Let's bring the boom. Let's do what AJ and Big Justice do.' Before I took that call, I said, 'I have so much going on, WWE is really where I want to be.' AEW is offering that to me, my jaw dropped at that moment. I thought about it, but I didn't even have to think about it. Sonjay was right," he said. [H/T Fightful]
AJ and Big Justice official sign AEW contract
Given their popularity, it should come as no surprise that AEW is interested in the father-son duo. It now looks like their appearance at All Out won't be their only appearance for the promotion.
AJ recently took to social media to share a clip of him signing his contract with All Elite Wrestling. QT Marshall was also present and even challenged to perhaps his first match in the company:
"A.J. & Big Justice Are All Elite‼️ #costcoguys #wrestling #aew #barstoolsports #father #son #family #fun #bigjustice #boom."
