A popular tag team just confirmed that they have signed a deal with AEW. They belong to a legendary wrestling family.
The Von Erich name is legendary in the world of professional wrestling. The Von Erich were wrestlers who were quite popular in the '80s for their charisma and in-ring skills. They made a name for themselves in World Class Championship Wrestling, where they gained prominence.
Unfortunately, tragedy hit, and all members of The Von Erich Family passed away tragically, leaving only Kevin Von Erich behind. Kevin continued his family's legacy and passed it on to his children, Ross and Marshall Von Erich, who have been doing quite well for themselves in the Indies.
They have wrestled for several promotions, including AEW. In fact, they have signed a new deal with Tony Khan's promotion. Speaking on their The Von Erich podcast, Ross and Marshall Von Erich announced that they will be returning to AEW for a couple of dates later this month.
“On Saturday, we will be returning to AEW. I don’t know if we can share the other dates. Next couple of Saturdays. It’s the 20th [of July]. We’re super pumped. We’re super excited.”
They also admitted that, while they have not signed a full contract, they have signed a short-term deal with the promotion.
“Yeah, we signed some matches. We did sign for a few matches, but we’ll see what comes from this. Be ready for some more announcements and all that, but we’re gonna go down there and show them why when you’re in Texas, you have to have the Von Erichs.” [H/T Ringside News]
The Von Erichs have appeared in AEW before
While Ross and Marshall are set to compete in AEW later this month, it won't be the first time they wrestle in Tony Khan's promotion. The duo have had two matches before and are currently undefeated.
Their first appearance was on the December 15, 2023, episode of AEW Rampage, where they teamed up with Orange Cassidy to beat the team of Angelo Parker, Jake Hager, and Matt Menard. Their second and last appearance came on the February 16, 2024, episode of Rampage, where they teamed up with Dustin Rhodes to face Hitt, Romero Crews, and Shimbashi.
It will be interesting to see if The Von Erichs will be able to keep their undefeated streak alive when they make their return to All Elite Wrestling.
