AEW's Adam Cole has made plenty of enemies throughout his years in pro wrestling, but one of his most unexpected rivals is Pat McAfee. The former NFL punter and current WWE commentator recently took a shot at the Undisputed Kingdom leader.

The animosity between Cole and McAfee dates back to their time in NXT. Cole faced off with the podcaster multiple times, including in a WarGames match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2020. While the current AEW star was victorious in each encounter, it seems that the two are still at each other's throats.

Yesterday was Adam Cole's 35th birthday, and Pat McAfee couldn't let the occasion pass without taking a shot at the former WWE Superstar. McAfee took to X (formerly Twitter) to call Cole a sc**bag and express his hope that the birthday was terrible. You can check out McAfee's tweet by clicking here.

"I heard that sc**bag @AdamColePro turned another year older. I, like many, hope the day was absolutely terrible. 🗣🗣 CHEERS," wrote McAfee.

Pat McAfee's insult was payback for Adam Cole doing the same

While Pat McAfee's insult on Adam Cole's birthday may seem out of the blue, the WWE commentator was simply paying his old rival back for a similar stunt pulled by Cole earlier this year.

McAfee celebrated his 37th birthday on May 2 this year, and the Undisputed Kingdom leader celebrated in the only way he knows how: by calling his rival a sc**bag.

"If there is one thing I’ve been certain of, it’s my disdain for @PatMcAfeeShow Hope you have the worst birthday you sc**bag," wrote Cole.

Cole and McAfee are now separated by the promotional boundary between WWE and AEW, but it seems the two aren't afraid to express their disdain for one another, even after all these years. Whether the two ever meet in the ring again remains to be seen.
