It is currently being speculated that Bobby Lashley could be on his way to AEW following his WWE departure. The 48-year-old star was last seen in action in May 2024.
Rumors have been circulating regarding The All Mighty's in-ring future since his WWE exit earlier this year. Reports suggested that Lashley and his former manager MVP were planning to re-unite The Hurt Business in AEW.
Days after MVP debuted on Dynamite: Grand Slam to confront Prince Nana and teased the potentially imminent arrival of The Hurt Syndicate, it was reported that Shelton Benjamin, a former stable-mate of Lashley's and MVP's, was expected to sign with the Tony Khan-led promotion.
During Sportskeeda WrestleBinge's Q&A session with Wrestlevotes, a fan asked about the odds of Bobby Lashley making his AEW debut before or at WrestleDream 2024. Wrestlevotes confessed their uncertainty about exactly when the former WWE Champion could show up in the Jacksonville-based company, given the possibility of Lashley being under a non-compete clause.
Fans drowned out a popular wrestler with 'She's a racist' chants recently
They claimed that The Destroyer was likely coming to AEW, although whether he would debut before or at WrestleDream was up to CEO Tony Khan.
"I'd imagine it could be at the show; it could be before, I don't know the contract situation that Bobby is currently under if there was a no-compete or things of that nature. You know, AEW historically has done a good job at teasing somebody to the point where you know they're coming, you just don't have to say their name, so. With MVP mentioning the 'business' line last week, with them supposedly agreeing to terms with Shelton Benjamin today. It's clear he's coming, and if they wanna do a 'MVP is bringing a mystery to WrestleDream' then, I mean, if the shoe fits, you know... But I can't say for sure that it's going to be either before or at the show. That's a Tony Khan decision." [16:21 - 17:11]
Sam Roberts thinks Bobby Lashley will be feuding with Swerve Strickland in AEW
During his appearance on Dynamite: Grand Slam, MVP criticized Prince Nana for his inadequacies as Swerve Strickland's manager, whom he heaped praise on and left a card for in case the former AEW World Champion wanted to discuss "business."
Wrestling analyst and radio personality Sam Roberts, on a recent edition of his Notsam Wrestling podcast, speculated that Strickland, being a babyface, would turn down MVP's managerial services, which would lead the latter to bring in Bobby Lashley to "take out" The New Flavor.
It remains to be seen if Lashley's All Elite journey will begin with a blockbuster rivalry with Swerve Strickland.
